PTSA 2016: A Year in Review

Can you believe it's already the end of 2016? We want to thank everyone in the department for their support for the PTSA this year for all of our events. Take a stroll through the past year and check out some of what the PTSA and PT Department accomplished during 2016 below (based on our 5 pillars):

Community Service

- Participated all over the community including with SoCal Special Olympics Summer Games, SoCal Trykers, Life Rolls On, Filipino Migrant Center Walking Club, Abilities Awareness Fair at Newcomb Academy, and more!

- Along with thousands from all over the world, participated in the International PT Day of Service 2016

- Randy and Devan won 2nd place for the CPTA student video contest

- Held the Peggy Moyer Memorial 5K to raise money for the new anatomy lab

- Class of 2019 hosted the 3rd Annual Pre-PT Info Workshop

- Won the "Get Caught Doing Good" photo challenge through PT Day of Service

Career Advancement/Involvement

- Represented at CSM 2016 in Anaheim, California Student Conclave 2016 in San Diego, CPTA Conference in Santa Clara, and National Student Conclave in Miami

- Joined the National Advocacy Dinner movement by attending NAD Los Angeles

- Held numerous PT Lunch N Learns and PT Journal Clubs during the year

- Matt Downey appointed as APTA Core Ambassador for California

- Randy Stuck helped represent the Long Beach/South Bay district at the CPTA Assembly of Reps!

- Michelle Wynne elected as APTA Student Assembly secretary - a CSULB PT program first!

Student Fellowship

- The D2's (and a couple D3's) welcomed the Class of 2019 at their orientation with gifts for their PT littles!

- The D2's won the 1st DPT Olympics

- Hosted the 2nd Annual Fall Bar Mixer at Legends

- "3's All We Need" aka Casey, Victor, and Kylie won the 4th Annual DPT Volleyball Tournament

- CSULB chosen as the PT Pintcast School of the Week the first week of November

Fundraising

- We've raised money for graduation, faculty and department gifts, as well as to donate back to the PTSA for future events.

Graduation

- The class of 2016 aka the 27 Best Friends graduated in May 2016!

- Save the date for the Class of 2017 graduation on May 25!

If you made it through that...thanks for the awesome ride that was the year 2016. We hope that 2017 brings great memories and growth for everyone!
