The Long Beach Marathon took place on Sunday, October 9, with thousands flocking to participate in one of several bike or running races, to cheer on both loved ones and strangers, or to volunteer their time to help the event run smoothly.

3rd year DPT student Matt Downey spent the morning and early afternoon working in the LB Marathon Recovery Station, providing post-race soft tissue management and stretching for interested participants.

Downey describes the day as "a fun opportunity to practice my manual physical therapy skills and techniques on runners and cyclists." He also enjoyed exploring the venue and getting tons of freebies.
